Chris Bosh Gets Telescope, Shane Battier Collects Fine Wine From Mario Chalmers at Heat’s Secret Santa Gift Exchange

The super-rich dudes on the Miami Heat had a gift exchange this year that could be described as Secret Santa on steroids.

The Heat, fresh off a Thanksgiving when they all wore special socks and took cute pictures together, decided to have a gift exchange as a team this year. LeBron James said he helped start the event, which had just one rule.

“There was a limit on price — you couldn’t go below a certain number,” he said, according to the Palm Beach Post. “That was it.”

That price was apparently not $25, as the gifts all seemed to come from one of those high-end catalogs that normal people look at and say, “Who buys this stuff?”

Chris Bosh’s Secret Santa partner, Shane Battier, got him a telescope. Battier in turn received some classy wines (Opus One and a Joseph Phelps Insignia) from Mario Chalmers. Michael Beasley bought a painting for Roger Mason Jr.

Battier said he was part of a Secret Santa when he played for the Rockets, albeit one of a little different flavor.

“The amount of thought and planning that went into this was pretty impressive,” he said.

Anyone think the Heat would object to joining an office Secret Santa before Christmas arrives? Better yet — white elephant, with the Miami players bringing the gifts.
