Georgia Southern’s Football Coach Serves Alligator Meat in Cafeteria After Team Beats Florida in Gainesville

Students at Georgia Southern University took time last week to feast on turkey for Thanksgiving, but this week, they’re feasting on alligator.

The student body wasn’t on campus last week to celebrate its football team’s upset over the Florida Gators in Gainesville two weeks ago, so school administrators decided to celebrate on Monday. University president Brooks Keel and football coach Jeff Monken served up fried alligator, buffalo alligator bites and alligator sliders at the school’s dining commons.

The Gators’ loss knocked out their chances a bowl-eligibility, meaning Florida will miss a bowl game for the first time since 1990.
