Report: Dolphins Center Mike Pouncey Was in Boston on Wednesday, Likely Related to Aaron Hernandez Investigation

The Patriots will travel to play the Dolphins this weekend in Miami, but one Dolphins player made his way to Boston earlier this week.

Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was in Boston on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald, likely adhering to a subpoena to appear in front of a grand jury investigating Aaron Hernandez. Pouncey was listed on the Dolphins practice report as a non-participant with the “not injury related” designation.

Pouncey, 24, was formally subpoenaed by Massachusetts law enforcement during the Dolphins’ visit to Gillette Stadium on Oct. 27. He was served the subpoena as he exited the locker room after the 27-17 loss.

Hernandez, who was charged with the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, is also being investigated on weapons charges and his potential involvement in interstate gun trafficking, which is the root of Pouncey’s appearance before the grand jury.

Along with being teammates on the Florida football team, Pouncey was roommates with Hernandez during their time together at the University of Florida. Pouncey and his twin brother Maurkice, who plays center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, were spotted wearing “Free Hernandez” hats in a Miami nightclub earlier this year.
