After four straight losses and a tie, the Pack have a record of 5-6-1, placing the team right on the bubble of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Rodgers’ target for his return was initially Week 14, but the quarterback didn’t play in the Pack’s Thanksgiving Day loss to the Lions, and the team is concerned he won’t be ready to play against the Falcons on Dec. 8, according to NFL.com.
If Rodgers is in fact not ready to play and the Packers fall to Atlanta — and out of the playoff picture — it’s likely that the team could shut the quarterback down to avoid any further injury to his collarbone.
Things aren’t looking too bright for the Packers, either, after their demoralizing 40-10 loss to Detroit. They gave up 461 yards to the Lions on defense, and without an experienced signal caller under center, the team could be shifting it’s focus to the 2014 season.
