Report: Phillies Shopping Star Outfielder Domonic Brown

The Philadelphia Phillies don’t have as much young talent as the other teams in the NL East division, but that hasn’t stopped them from reportedly dangling outfielder Domonic Brown in the trade market.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports has reported that the Phillies are looking to acquire starting pitching and could use Brown to make that kind of move.

The 26-year-old star hit .272 with a team-leading 27 home runs and 83 RBIs in 139 games during the 2013 season. He also tallied 65 runs, 135 hits and a .324 on-base percentage.

While it’s no secret that Philadelphia has a strong need for a deeper and more talented starting rotation, taking Brown out of a lineup that finished 26th in runs scored, 21st in batting average, 24th in on-base percentage and 21st in slugging percentage last season isn’t an ideal move.

With that said, Brown is certainly the most attractive young player on the Phillies roster that could help them acquire a top-of-the-rotation pitcher.
