Report: Shin-Soo Choo Agrees to Seven-Year, $130 Million Deal With Texas Rangers

Shin-Soo Choo is off the market.

CBSsports.com reports that Choo has agreed to a seven-year, $130 million deal with the Texas Rangers after engaging in talks with the Reds, Mariners, Yankees and a number of other teams. The location of the deal reportedly made a difference, since $130 million is worth more in Texas because of the state’s lack of income tax.

Choo is entering his ninth major league season, and the Rangers will reportedly look to use him as a tablesetter. The addition of Choo, along with the earlier acquisition of Prince Fielder, should provide a boost to an already solid Texas offense.

Choo spent 2013 with the Cincinnati Reds, hitting .285 with 21 homers and a .885 OPS in 154 games.
