The 2013 World Series trophy will visit fans in Maine this weekend making stops in Portland and Freeport on Saturday, and Orono and Bangor on Sunday. The visit to Maine is part of an effort to share the World Series trophy with fans throughout New England., the U.S., and the globe. It is scheduled to visit all six New England states in the coming weeks.
On Saturday, the trophy will be available to the public from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Hadlock Field in Portland, home of the Portland Sea Dogs. It will then stop at Red Sox sponsor LL Bean’s Flagship store in Freeport from 3-5 p.m.
On Sunday, the trophy will be in Bangor at the Cross Insurance Center from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Cross Insurance is the official insurance broker of the Boston Red Sox. Red Sox Third Base Coach and Maine resident Brian Butterfield will be on hand to speak with fans.
The Maine trophy tour will conclude at the Alfond Arena on the University of Maine campus from 2-4 p.m. Maine Senator George Mitchell will be present at each stop. All stops are open to the public.
