Alabama Fan Who Jumped on Oklahoma Fans During Sugar Bowl Apologizes to Team, Nick Saban

The female Alabama football fan who threw a flying punch into a crowd of Oklahoma fans is somewhat apologetic after the event.

Michelle Pritchett spoke to AL.com about her outburst, which was unsurprisingly caught on video Thursday and went viral shortly after the Crimson Tide’s Sugar Bowl loss. Pritchett explained that she and the Sooner fans had been engaging in a “friendly back-and-forth” that turned sour when one of the OU fans taunted her son.

Pritchett said she walked over to the group and told them to stop, and as she was walking back to her seat one of the Oklahoma fans called her a name — that’s when things got rowdy.

In the video, Pritchett is shown leaping over a row of fans and kicking at the group wildly with her boots. Pritchett, a mother of three from Sweetwater, Ala., said she’d had a couple of drinks at the game but she wasn’t intoxicated.

Pritchett said she’s sorry for her actions and apologized to the Crimson Tide and its fanbase.

“I apologize to the whole Alabama team, to Nick Saban,” she said. “I apologize to the whole Alabama base. That’s not the way I would normally handle things. But when he told my son to come down there, that wasn’t going to happen.

“Would I take that back? No,” she said. “He was out of control.”
