With both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett making their return to Boston on Sunday, fans at TD Garden were treated to not one, but two video tributes.
The former Boston Celtics greats were visibly emotional as highlights from their time in green played on the Garden video board, Garnett’s during the first quarter and Pierce’s right before the start of the second.
Garnett’s tribute chronicled the trade that brought him to Boston in 2007 and showcased his trademark intensity, while Pierce’s featured shots of his playoff heroics interspersed with clips from the courtroom scene from A Few Good Men — a nod to his nickname, “The Truth.”
The Brooklyn Nets came away with an 85-79 win, but the result isn’t what anyone will remember from a very emotional night in Boston.
