“It’s going to be unbelievable. This is going to be our 32nd Boston Marathon,” Dick Hoyt told CBS Boston. “Last year we did not go across the finish line. We were stopped at the 25-mile marker. But we will be out there. We will get across it this year. It’s going to be very emotional.”
Rick, 51, has cerebral palsy, a disease that leaves him unable to use his legs and hands. His father, Dick, 73, pushes him in a special wheelchair at many different races. They began competing in races 37 years ago on a 5-mile course.
The two men were honored at the 2013 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, where they won the Jimmy V Perseverance Award.
The 2014 Boston Marathon is scheduled for Monday, April 21.
