Pitchers and catchers aren’t scheduled to report to camp until Saturday, and position players aren’t scheduled to report until Tuesday, Feb. 18. Yet Red Sox spring training is in full swing for several members of the team, and Boston is faced with some interesting questions as baseball gets underway.
The Red Sox lost Jacoby Ellsbury, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and (perhaps) Stephen Drew this offseason while adding the likes of A.J. Pierzynski, Edward Mujica, Grady Sizemore, Jonathan Herrera and Burke Badenhop. Most of last year’s World Series-winning team has remained intact, meaning the Red Sox are in good shape with Opening Day about a month and a half away.
There certainly are some interesting storylines to keep an eye on as the Red Sox kick off spring training, though. From positional battles to young players developing, the Red Sox will need to sort out some things relatively soon to maximize their chances of repeating as World Series champions in 2014.
Take a look at the 10 biggest questions facing the Red Sox as Boston kicks off spring training in Fort Myers.
