Rita Jeptoo Outruns Green Line En Route To Boston Marathon Record (GIF)

Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo set a new women’s record at the 2014 Boston Marathon with a blistering time of 2:18:57.

Just how fast was Jeptoo’s time? Allow this GIF to demonstrate:

Yes, that’s Jeptoo churning down Commonwealth Avenue and actually outrunning the MBTA’s Green Line in the process.

Many Bostonians familiar with the notoriously slow Green Line would joke that Jeptoo’s feat is not all that impressive. Keep in mind, though, that Jeptoo is getting close to the finish line at this point and has run for more than 20 miles.

Aside from putting the 33-year-old’s amazing athletic ability into perspective, the above GIF also produced a hilarious meme, courtesy of Twitter user @BostonUrbEx.
