Yasiel Puig Makes Two Amazing Plays, One Error In Crazy Inning (Video)

An over-the-shoulder circus catch, a bad error on a routine fly ball and an amazing throw to gun out a runner at second base. All in one inning.

Just another day in the life of Yasiel Puig.

The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder had quite the eventful second inning against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday afternoon, showcasing the best — and worst — of his electrifying talents over the course of a few minutes.

The craziness began with one out and a runner on first in the second inning, when Puig got a bit too casual in right field and dropped an easy pop-up. He atoned for his mistake, though, when he scooped up the ball and fired a frozen rope to second base to record the force out.

The 23-year-old topped the eventful play just one batter later, when Giants batter Brandon Hicks lofted a fly ball deep into right field. With his back turned to home plate, Puig tracked the ball down and made a twisting over-the-shoulder catch to end the inning. Check out a GIF of the catch below, courtesy of MLB.com’s Cut4.

Puig has been in the headlines a lot these days after the wild story of his defection from Cuba surfaced earlier this week.

In no place does the spotlight shine brighter on the young star than on the baseball field, though, and his exciting inning Thursday proved that.
