Former Giants Safety Tyler Sash Tased, Arrested After Drunken Scooter Chase

Most police chases don’t involve a former NFL player drunk on a scooter, but this was the situation Tyler Sash put himself in over the weekend.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes product and New York Giants safety was arrested early Saturday morning after leading Oskaloosa, Iowa, police on a scooter chase and being shot with a Taser.

The sixth-round pick in 2011, who spent two seasons with the Giants, was charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts.

According to multiple reports per ESPN.com, Sash was spotted riding his motorized scooter with its lights off around 1:30 a.m., and police asked him to stop. The 25-year-old reportedly refused multiple orders to stop, though, and after a four-block chase he ditched the scooter and took off on foot.

Police eventually found Sash hiding behind a tree, and when he refused to come out, they shot him with a Taser.

Sash declined a field sobriety test, but he reportedly admitted to having six drinks within an hour.
