BOSTON — It had been more than seven years since Red Sox outfielder Grady Sizemore collected a walk-off hit. The 31-year-old snapped his drought in a big way Tuesday at Fenway Park.
Sizemore followed back-to-back singles by David Ortiz and Mike Napoli in the 12th inning with a line drive into the left-center field gap to give the Red Sox a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The walk-off hit marked Sizemore’s first since Aug. 11, 2006, when the three-time All-Star was a member of the Cleveland Indians.
Sizemore went 3-for-6 with two RBIs in Tuesday’s win. He also singled home Boston’s third run of the game in the third inning, although it’s obviously the walk-off gap shot that Red Sox fans are talking about.
