Kansas City Royals outfielder Norichika Aoki has 53 hits so far this season, but he doesn’t have one in his last 13 at-bats.
Horrible swings like the one he had Wednesday won’t help his cause.
In the fifth inning of the Royals’ game against the Astros, Houston pitcher Jarred Cosart fired a fastball high and inside, seemingly destined to nail Aoki in the shoulder. The acrobatic outfielder was having none of that, however, as he uncorked a wild swing during his attempt to get out of the way and managed to somehow knock himself over in the process.

It’s actually somewhat impressive that Aoki managed to get his bat on the ball, but he might want to let that pitch go next time.
If Aoki can take solace in one thing, it’s that his embarrassing swing had some company. Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura one-upped Aoki on Wednesday by crumpling to the ground after a hilariously terrible swing that didn’t even make contact with the ball.
Which one is worse? We’ll let Elvis Andrus and Pablo Sandoval decide.
