Harry Caray Went Out Drinking 288 Consecutive Days in 1972

In perhaps the least surprising news of the night, it’s been confirmed that legendary broadcaster Harry Caray was also a legendary drinker.

That’s a pretty indisputable fact according to Caray’s expense diary from 1972 that Chicago Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg recently got his hands on. The diary, which Caray kept while he was a broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox, revealed that he very likely spent more time in bars than his own house.

In fact, Caray spent 288 straight days in some bar in some city, which was just part of 354 nights in 357 days that he spent out and about at various drinking establishments around the country.

Holy cow, indeed.
