While Lackey was dealing, Twins starter Kyle Gibson was doing the same, so the Red Sox were unable to plate a runner during Lackey’s nine stellar innings. He earned a tough luck no-decision, giving up just three hits while striking out nine and walking only one batter.
Lackey was helping out a winning effort though, as David Ortiz and Mike Napoli hit back-to-back solo home runs for the walk-off win in the 10th inning. He’s scheduled to get the ball Monday against the Seattle Mariners, so let’s see if he can pull out another W for the team.
