The Boston Red Sox have parted ways with hometown pitcher Rich Hill.
Hill, who signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox in January, was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.

The 34-year-old Boston native appeared in 25 games as a relief pitcher for Triple-A Pawtucket this season, compiling a 3-3 record and 3.23 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.
Hill spent three seasons with the Red Sox from 2010 to 2012. He saw brief success in the major leagues, posting a 1.14 ERA over 40 appearances with Boston, but was slowed by a left elbow injury that forced him to undergo Tommy John surgery in May 2011.
Hill signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians in 2013 before being picked up by the Red Sox last offseason.
In other left-handed reliever news, the Red Sox also announced Tuesday that they have released left-hander Chris Capuano after designating him for assignment.
