Lester takes home Amica Pitcher of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after turning in a dominant performance against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.
While Lester wasn’t rewarded with a win, the left-handed ace did everything he could to keep his team in the game. After giving up an RBI single to Jose Abreu in the first inning, Lester mowed down the White Sox lineup over the rest of his outing, allowing just seven hits total while striking out 12 and walking no one.
The Red Sox held a 3-1 lead when Lester left the game after the seventh inning, but Koji Uehara gave up two runs in the ninth inning to take Lester out of the decision.
Boston had the last laugh, however, as Mike Carp hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning to give the Red Sox a 4-3 win.
Lester has allowed two earned runs or fewer in his last six starts.
