Revolution Shut Out By Chicago Fire For Fifth Consecutive Loss (Video)

The New England Revolution couldn’t break their lengthy skid Saturday night and fell 1-0 to the Chicago Fire at Gillette Stadium.

The Fire (3-4-10, 19 points) wasted no time finding the score sheet, scoring just three minutes into the contest. The play started with a Revolution turnover at midfield, which the Fire turned into a scoring opportunity. Mike Magee sent a long pass into the goal box for Quincy Amarikwa, who placed the ball into the top right corner of the net.

“Tonight, I thought we were going to come out flying, and we got punched right in the face in the first two and a half minutes,” Revolution coach Jay Heaps said, via MLSSoccer.com.

The Revolution (7-8-2, 23 points) did have ample opportunities to jump back into the contest, however, putting seven shots on goal that Fire keeper Sean Johnson stopped. His biggest stop came in the 84th minute, when he denied Chris Tierney on a penalty-kick attempt.

The Revolution, who have lost five in a row, next hit the road to face the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. ET. New England hasn’t won since May 24 and sits fourth in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference.
