Since 2009, the Boston Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program have been helping raise money and support for the invisible wounds of war: post-traumatic stress disorder.
One of the big ways they raise funds is with the Run to Home Base.
Participants run (or walk) a loop around Boston, and the finish line is home plate at Fenway Park. Teams and runners fundraise, but more importantly, they show their support for the healing process that is needed by so many veterans. One-third of returning military suffer from some form of PTSD, traumatic brain injury or depression.
