Twins Beat Yankees On Walk-Off Error From Francisco Cervelli (Video)

The Minnesota Twins will take a win any way they can after starting the season with a 39-47 record. Saturday afternoon, they got just what they needed thanks to some bad defense from the New York Yankees.

The Twins had a golden opportunity to win the game in the 11th inning with the bases loaded and Trevor Plouffe at the plate. But when Plouffe hit a weak comebacker to pitcher Matt Thornton, all seemed lost.

Thornton started what should have been a routine 1-2-3, inning-ending double play when he threw the ball home to catcher Francisco Cervelli. Cervelli, however, had some issues with his throw to first base.

The Yankees catcher airmailed his throw to first baseman Mark Teixeira, which gave Minnesota a much-needed 2-1 walk-off win. It wasn’t pretty, but the Twins certainly aren’t complaining.
