Giants’ David Wilson Cries ‘Tears Of Joy’ In Goodbye To NFL (Video)

New York Giants running back David Wilson recently was dealt a bad hand that cost him his NFL career. Despite that, he’s thankful for the limited opportunities he was able to receive.

Wilson was diagnosed with a degenerative neck condition, and Giants team doctors urged the 23-year-old to retire. On Wednesday, Wilson gave a tearful goodbye to football.

“Don’t for a second, y’all think I’m pitying myself, or sad,” Wilson told reporters at a news conference. “I got to live my dream.

“I’ll set another dream and be great at that. I always look to be great at whatever I do.”

Wilson, a 2012 first-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech, appeared in 21 career NFL games. He ran for 504 yards on 115 carries and scored six total touchdowns.
