Mookie Betts Back In Red Sox Lineup For Series Opener Against Angels

Mookie Betts has been on a tear at Triple-A Pawtucket recently, and the Boston Red Sox rewarded that play on Monday by promoting the outfielder to the majors. He won’t waste any time getting back into the mix.

Betts will be in the lineup on Monday night, hitting eighth and playing center field when the Red Sox begin a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway Park.

Betts is coming off of a three-hit game on Sunday and was hitting .386 (17-for-44) over his last 10 games before being recalled to Boston.

Dustin Pedroia is also back in the Boston lineup on Monday night after missing Sunday’s series finale with Houston due to suffering from flu-like symptoms. Pedroia and the rest of the Red Sox will look to get back on the winning track against left-hander C.J. Wilson. Pedroia has really good numbers against the southpaw, as he’s a .429 (9-for-21) career hitter against Wilson with a home run and six RBIs.

Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes also has good numbers against Wilson from his time in the American League West. Cespedes is a .400 (6-for-15) in his career against Wilson.

Brandon Workman will make the start on the mound for the Red Sox.
