Olympic Wrestler Cited For Hunting Deer In Car Dealership Parking Lot

We bet you’ve never heard this one before.

10-time U.S. Nationals wrestling champion Dremiel Byers was bow-hunting a wounded buck when his prey led him into the parking lot of a Lexus car dealership.

Instead of giving up, Byers continued to follow the deer and was ultimately charged for hunting in the public area, according to the Denver Post.

Byers official charges were for “suspicion of hunting out of season and illegal possession of wildlife,” according to Matt Robbins, spokesman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Police were called to the car dealership just before 7 p.m. Thursday, after bystanders reported seeing a man with a bow and arrow hunting in the parking lot.

USA Wrestling’s senior communications manager Craig Sesker was shocked when he heard the news, according to The Gazette.

“He’s been a great representative of our sport,” Sesker said, via The Gazette. “He’s had a great career and is one of the best we’ve ever had.”

The two-time Olympian is also a decorated U.S. Army sergeant first class, and is a part of the army’s world-class athlete program, according to the Denver Post.
