However, ESPN reports that privately, the sharp shooter is saying he will return to play for a contender.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites in landing Allen because of the two-time NBA champion’s desire to play with LeBron James.
However, Allen’s agent refuted ESPN’s report and said that his client hasn’t made a final decision on his plans for next season, per USA Today.
The 39-year-old averaged 9.6 points per game last season with the Miami Heat while shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Wherever Allen goes, there’s no doubt that his prowess from 3-point land will make any contender a better team. Aside from the Cavs, it’s not certain which other teams have shown interest for Allen.
All of that said, Allen is still publicly saying that retirement is a possibility.
“It’s August and I don’t want to rush to judgment,” Allen said at a charity golf tournament. “I want to get to September and see how I really feel.”
