Caroline Wozniacki Forgot To Pick Up Her $1.45M U.S. Open Winnings Check

Caroline Wozniacki left the U.S. Open without one little thing — her $1.45 million winner’s check.

We’ve all been there, am I right?

According to Monica Langley of the Wall Street Journal, after Wozniacki lost to Serena Williams in the final, she fulfilled her duties as a runner-up and accepted her trophy, spoke with the media and then took off for her Manhattan apartment.

It wasn’t until after she left that the tennis star realized she had forgotten to pick up her check, so about a half hour later she arrived back at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to pick up the nice chunk of change.

“About 30 minutes later, however, she arrived back at the tennis center, a look of mild panic on her face,” Langley writes. “‘I forgot to pick up my prize money,'” she said, via the WSJ.

This isn’t all that surprisingly coming from Wozniacki, as the article shows that she doesn’t concern herself with her finances. Wozniacki said she doesn’t worry or keep up with her endorsement deals, she doesn’t keep tabs on her bank accounts and she isn’t even sure how much she pays her father Piotr, who is also her coach.

“I have enough to eat, buy nice shoes,” Wozniacki said, the morning after the final. “For me, it’s about the tennis and the trophies. I’m not motivated by money.”
