Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel made his NFL debut Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, though it was not much to get excited about.
The former Texas A&M phenom entered the game in the third quarter, and his first official NFL play was a handoff to running back Isaiah Crowell for a 3-yard gain. Manziel appeared again later in the quarter and handed the ball off a second time for a 3-yard loss.
Then came his first NFL pass. Manziel scrambled to his left and threw a pass along the sideline that was dropped by fullback Ray Agnew. It was the last time Johnny Football saw the field in the game.
Browns starting QB Brian Hoyer led the team on a fourth-quarter comeback drive to defeat the Saints 26-24, giving Cleveland plenty of reason to keep him in the starting role as the season progresses. The former New England Patriots backup completed 24 of 40 passes on the day for 204 yards and a touchdown.
