Jaguars Mascot Criticized For Mocking Steelers With Ebola Sign (Photo)

Ebola probably isn’t something to joke about these days, but the Jacksonville Jaguars’ mascot apparently didn’t get that memo Sunday.

That’s when Jaxson de Ville held up an ill-timed sign that mocked Pittsburgh Steelers fans’ notorious use of “Terrible Towels.”

For those unaware, Ebola is a highly infectious, viral disease spread by contact with body fluids. According to the World Health Organization, it has a mortality rate of approximately 90 percent and recently found its way to the United States.

In other words, it’s not funny.

After the mascot’s poor attempt at a joke, the Steelers and their fans got the last laugh as they defeated the still-winless Jaguars 17-9.

UPDATE (11:09 a.m.): The Jaguars have apologized for the ill-advised sign.
