Georgia’s Todd Gurley Banned Four Games For Signing Autographs For Cash

University of Georgia tailback Todd Gurley, a Heisman Trophy contender, has been suspended for four games, the NCAA announced Wednesday, for accepting more than $3,000 over two years in exchange for autographed memorabilia.

Gurley will be eligible to return to the field Nov. 15, when the Bulldogs take on Auburn. He hasn’t played since Georgia’s Oct. 4 win over Vanderbilt.

Gurley acknowledged accepting money for his autograph, the NCAA said, and was ordered to repay a portion of the money he received to a charity of his choice. He also must complete 40 hours of community service.

The junior is Georgia’s leading rusher this season, with 773 yards on 94 attempts in five games. He has 3,147 career rushing yards, 86 yards short of second place on the school’s all-time list.
