Pittsburgh Supports Ottawa By Singing ‘O Canada’ After Tragedy (Video)

Singing “O Canada” before an NHL game isn’t anything new. You just usually don’t see it before a Penguins-Flyers game played in Pittsburgh.

Yet that was the scene Wednesday night at Consol Energy Center as Pittsburgh, led by anthem singer Jeff Jimerson, paid tribute to Ottawa.

Ottawa was put on lockdown Wednesday after a gunman shot a soldier standing guard at Canada’s National War Memorial before storming the Parliament building. Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, 24, was identified as the victim.

The tragedy prompted the postponement of Wednesday’s Senators-Maple Leafs game in Ottawa.
