Chad Kelly, Jim Kelly’s Nephew, Arrested After Threatening To Shoot Up Bar

Former Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly is facing a laundry list of charges after getting into a bar fight over the weekend.

Kelly, the nephew of Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly, signed a letter of intent to play at Ole Miss on Wednesday and was arrested just four days later. According to The Buffalo News, the 20-year-old fought with bouncers while they tried to kick him out of a bar in his hometown of Buffalo.

After refusing to leave the establishment around 3:15 a.m., Kelly punched a bouncer in the face, according to a Buffalo police report and it only got worse from there. He continued to fight with two bouncers before telling them “I’m going to go to my car and get my AK-47 and spray this place.”

Police officers, responding to the threat, later stopped a vehicle where Kelly was a passenger. Kelly reportedly was “forcibly removed” from the vehicle, officers said, as he kicked and took swings at them while they tried to get him out of the truck.

Kelly now faces third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, second-degree menacing, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Kelly spent the 2014 season at East Mississippi Community College after being kicked off the Clemson team in April for conduct detrimental to the team. He threw for 3,905 yards with 47 touchdowns and eight interceptions en route to leading East Mississippi to the National Junior College Athletic Association title earlier this month.
