Regardless Of Team’s Record, NFL Players Still Have Plenty To Play For

Life in the NFL isn’t easy, and it’s even more difficult this of year if you play for a bad team.

There are plenty of teams across the league who have nothing to play for in the final weeks of the season. Assuming that players on those teams have nothing to play for, too, would be a big mistake.

Whether it’s playing for compensation, job security or just trying to impress, NFL players should have no shortage of motivation, even if their team enters Week 16 with a 2-12 record.

“In the NFL, players are ALWAYS being evaluated regardless of their team’s record,” former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn wrote on FootballByFootball.com. “Front offices will judge if players are worth their price tags and coaching staffs will try to determine which ones can help them win more games. With the margins of talent being so close in vying for roster spots, NFL players can’t afford to ‘lay an egg’ down the stretch.”
