Oregon’s Mascot Was Ducks’ Lone Highlight In National Championship Loss

The University of Oregon still doesn’t have a national title, but it does have one of college sports’ best mascots.

The Ducks were rolled 42-20 on Monday night in the College Football Playoff national championship against Ohio State, but don’t blame The Oregon Duck, the team’s mascot.

The Duck stole the Oregon show Monday, and the web-footed wonder started early. The mascot led the charge onto the AT&T Field in Arlington, as he sprinted out of the tunnel with pyrotechnics blasting behind him.

Luckily for all of us, GIF/video master CJ Fogler set this triumphant entrance to the “Chariots of Fire” theme song, and well, it’s fantastic.

The Duck was also shown during the national anthem, a fitting nod to a true patriot.

However, as the game started to get away from Oregon, The Duck got a little loopy and it was time to put the kids to bed.

Evidently all in a day’s work for the best mascot in college sports.
