Plaxico Burress Piles On Nick Saban, Rips His Ex-Michigan State Coach

Plaxico Burress didn’t have much invested in the Sugar Bowl, but it’s safe to say he likely didn’t mind the result.

Nick Saban’s Alabama squad was bounced from the College Football Playoffs on Thursday night, when underdog Ohio State upended them 42-35 in New Orleans. Burress used the marquee matchup — and Crimson Tide loss — to pile on Saban.

First, the backstory. Before going to the NFL, Burress played his college ball at Michigan State in the late 1990s. His head coach? Saban. And according to Burress, Saban tried to convince the wide receiver to stay in East Lansing instead of leaving early to go to the NFL.

Shortly thereafter, Saban himself left Michigan State to take the head coaching job at LSU. Burress then entered the NFL draft, too.

Well … people don’t forget, huh?

It’s a bit odd to see Burress so salty, though. After all, his Spartans did come from behind to win the Cotton Bowl over Baylor in arguably the most exciting game of this bowl season.
