Report: Broncos Hiring Ex-Player Gary Kubiak To Be Next Head Coach

Gary Kubiak is going back to Denver.

The Broncos reportedly will hire Kubiak, who spent the 2014 season as the Baltmore Ravens’ offensive coordinator, as their next head coach, an NFL source told Mike Klis of The Denver Post on Sunday night. Klis reports that Kubiak and the Broncos are finalizing a four-year contract, and he’s expected to be introduced Tuesday.

Kubiak played for the Broncos for nine seasons (1983-91) as a backup for quarterback John Elway, now the team’s general manager. Kubiak also was Denver’s offensive coordinator from 1995 to 2005 before signing on as head coach of the Houston Texans, with whom he went 61-64 over eight seasons with a 2-2 record in the playoffs.

Kubiak replaces John Fox, who parted ways with the Broncos last Monday.
