Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins still is the favorite for the Frank J. Selke Trophy — which he won last season — as the best defensive forward in the league.
He strengthened his case with an excellent defensive performance in the Bruins’ 6-2 road win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon. He won 58 percent of his faceoffs, helped the Bruins dominate puck possession and shut down Chicago’s top line at even strength.
