Leafs’ David Clarkson Fights Twice, Ejected For Interference In First Period (Video)

David Clarkson’s tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs has not gone according to plan.

The veteran winger signed a seven-year, $36.75 million contract with the Leafs before the 2013-14 season and has scored just 15 goals in 115 games.

Saturday night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre was another low point for Clarkson.

He fought twice in the first period, with the first bout coming against Habs forward Brandon Prust.

Then, late in the first period, Clarkson dropped the gloves with Montreal defenseman Nathan Beaulieu.

Clarkson also was given a 5-minute major penalty for boarding Canadiens defenseman Sergei Gonchar. The hit resulted in an ejection for the Leafs winger, too.

To recap, Clarkson totaled 27 penalty minutes in just 2:31 of ice time.
