Shane Vereen: Tom Brady Is ‘Most Competitive Person I Have Ever Been Around’

The New England Patriots’ will to win all starts with the quarterback.

Tom Brady has earned the reputation as one of sports’ fiercest competitors, and that’s manifested itself in four Super Bowl titles. Patriots running back Shane Vereen is just the latest teammate past or present to try to explain what sets Brady apart from everyone else.

“The most competitive person I have ever been around, especially teammate, “Vereen said Monday on NFL Network via ESPN.com. “You go from a 7-on-7 drill to just a goal-line passing drill, but once the chirping starts, you can see it in his eyes, the switch flips, ‘it’s go time, we’re competing.’ It’s a completely different person.

“I love it because it makes practice a little more fun, especially when Tom gets riled up, when he gets going.”

Vereen is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, which means his time in New England might soon be over. It’s hard to imagine, however, he’s going to find a quarterback with Brady’s drive and fire anywhere else.
