The New England Patriots could boost their pass rush via free agency.
Former Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard is going to Foxboro on Tuesday night for a free-agent visit with the Patriots, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Sheard had 23 sacks in four seasons with the Browns after being a second-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh in 2011.
Sheard’s most productive season came in his rookie season, when he had 8.5 sacks while the Browns still were running a 4-3 defensive alignment. Sheard likely would rotate with Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones at defensive end with the Patriots.
