The Boston Red Sox enter 2015 with more questions than answers.
There are both reasons for optimism and potential pain points, making it nearly impossible to predict how Boston will fare on the heels of its 71-91 finish in 2014.
That’s the beauty of this exercise.
This season could go in so many different directions for so many different players that making Red Sox-centric predictions is difficult and laborious, yet it’s also a blast. Of course, one has to accept he or she will probably be wrong in many of his or her well-crafted forecasts.
The following predictions focus on nearly every aspect of the Red Sox’s roster, including the stacked lineup and the questionable rotation. Potential trades, call-ups and other developments also were taken into consideration.
The only prediction that matters, of course, is whether the Red Sox will make the playoffs and return to World Series glory one year removed from a disastrous campaign. But these 10 predictions also should be consumed, even if not taken to heart entirely.
