NEW YORK — Barcelona will play Manchester United in an exhibition game in Santa Clara, Calif., on July 25 and will meet Chelsea three days later in Landover, Md.
The matches were among 17 announced Tuesday by organizers of the International Champions Cup North America, a preseason tournament that despite its name also includes games in Europe.
Barcelona also will play the Los Angeles Galaxy in Pasadena, Calif., on July 21 and will be at Fiorentina in Florence, Italy, on Aug. 2. For some of the games, the Spanish team might be missing Lionel Messi and Neymar, who could be on vacation following the Copa America, which ends July 4.
Luis Suarez likely will be available because he is serving a nine-match suspension from international play as part of discipline imposed by FIFA after Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup game last June.
Manchester United will play Mexico’s Club America in Seattle on July 17, the San Jose Earthquakes four days later at a site to be announced and Paris Saint-Germain in Chicago on July 29.
Chelsea will play the New York Red Bulls in Harrison, N.J., on July 22, face PSG three days later in Charlotte, N.C., and host Fiorentina at London’s Stamford Bridge on Aug. 5.
PSG will meet Porto in Toronto on July 18 and Fiorentina at Red Bull Arena three days later. Porto also will face Fiorentina in East Hartford, Conn., on July 24, visit the Red Bulls two days later and meet Club America at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium on July 28.
Club America will play at the Galaxy on July 11 and at the Earthquakes three days later.
