Manny Pacquiao’s Trainer Rips Floyd Mayweather For Media Day Tardiness

Freddie Roach has a big mouth for such a little man.

Manny Pacquiao’s trainer has been fueling the pre-fight fire, and didn’t hold back Wednesday when asked about a recent Floyd Mayweather debacle.

The 5-foot-5 Roach blasted Mayweather while speaking with media Wednesday after Mayweather was over two hours late to his scheduled media day appearance, which many networks broadcasted on live TV or through an online video stream.

“Mayweather is a different ‘A side’ now, and you can guess what the ‘A’ stands for,” Roach said, via the New York Daily News. “He was late for his media workout, leaving major media outlets scheduled to go live with dead air. How selfish is that? It doesn’t take a lot to figure out why everyone is rooting for Manny.”

Weird. All this time we thought people were rooting for Pacquiao because of Mayweather’s association with pop star Justin Bieber.

Roach continued, further attacking Mayweather’s character after citing his lack of respectable sponsorships.

“When Manny beats Mayweather, it won’t only be about unifying the welterweight titles, it will also be a public service to boxing.”

That wasn’t all. At 47-0, Mayweather is two wins away from tying Rocky Marciano’s career record. Roach doesn’t see that happening, though.

“Mayweather may be two victories shy of tying Rocky Marciano’s record, but I can assure you Mayweather’s party will end on May 2 and Marciano’s record will remain just that — the record,” Roach said. “And Mayweather will forever be known as Mr. 47 and 1.”

Roach then blasted the social media platform Shots, in which Mayweather is an investor.

“I am so glad that Mayweather is big on Shots, because he is going to be taking a lot of them from Manny on May 2,” Roach said.

Sounds like Mayweather has taken a few from Roach already.
