Ben Bishop Offers One Final Jab At P.K. Subban After Eliminating Canadiens

Ben Bishop certainly got the last laugh.

The Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender was sensational Tuesday night, as he and the Bolts closed out the Montreal Canadiens in their second-round Stanley Cup playoffs series.

Bishop stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced, including a couple of highlight-reel saves to help Tampa Bay advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

Bishop and the Lightning dominated the Canadiens this season both in the regular season and the playoffs. However, that didn’t stop Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban from critiquing Bishop’s game after Montreal chased Bishop in Game 3 of the series.

“I think Bishop sort of was sitting on a horseshoe for a little bit there,” Subban told reporters after that game, per Sportsnet. “He’s played well, but he’s been lucky as well.”

That quote quickly was relayed to Bishop who opted not to take the bait — at least while the series was still ongoing. Tuesday night after his team advanced, however, was a different story.

“Thank goodness for my lucky horseshoe,” he quipped, according to Sportsnet.

Someone within the Tampa Bay organization was more than willing to play along, too, as a horseshoe was in the goalie’s stall Tuesday night.

The Lightning will play the winner of Wednesday night’s Game 7 between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.
