BOSTON — The Red Sox are leaning on catcher Blake Swihart early in his call-up.
Swihart will start for the second consecutive game Sunday as the Red Sox wrap up a three-game series against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The 23-year-old made his major league debut Saturday and left a mark despite Boston suffering a 4-2 loss.
Daniel Nava will start in right field for the series finale with Shane Victorino still on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. The Red Sox have been relying on Nava, Allen Craig and Brock Holt to fill the void in Victorino’s absence.
