Boston Herald: Haters Dislike Tom Brady Because He’s ‘Cooler’ Than They Are

The latest hot take on DeflateGate is coming out of … Boston?

The Boston Herald turned some heads in the sports world thanks to the front page of Wednesday morning’s paper.

But it was Tom Shattuck’s piece stating that DeflateGate is all about envy for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots that really had people going.

“All around the country, once-
rational people are so bursting with envy that just below the surface they silently yearn for irrational concessions from Tom Brady,” Shattuck wrote.

“Concessions apart from the trophies and the rings. They want him to stop being who they can’t be.

“They don’t want him to be good-looking anymore.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“Nix the supermodel wife, too. The cars, the houses. The Kentucky Derby. The Uggs. His suspect hair.

“Sorry, losers. The fact is that everything about Brady is awesome.”

While there’s certainly some truth to the idea DeflateGate might not have blown up if it wasn’t for widespread hatred of the Patriots, it’s difficult to say the reason is as simple as envy. After all, the San Francisco 49ers won four of their five Lombardi Trophies with Joe Montana, and neither the team nor the quarterback were despised the way the Patriots and Brady are, even with Montana’s nickname being “Joe Cool.”
