Paul Pierce Calls ‘Series’ After Late Three; Al Horford Makes Him Pay (Videos)

Paul Pierce came up clutch yet again Wednesday night, but this time, the Atlanta Hawks had an answer for The Truth.

The Washington Wizards trailed the Hawks by two points in a pivotal Game 5 at Philips Arena when Bradley Beal found Pierce in the corner with eight seconds left in regulation.

Pierce, who “called game” with a miraculous buzzer beater just two games ago, calmly delivered the dagger, drilling a 3-pointer to put Washington up one and seemingly seal the deal.

The former Boston Celtic, feeling pretty confident after his big shot, decided to one-up his bold call from Game 3.

Bad move, Paul.

On the ensuing possession, Hawks forward Al Horford soared to snag the rebound off a Dennis Schroder miss and snuck in the putback with less than two seconds remaining to give the Hawks a dramatic 82-81 win.

Pierce and the Wizards aren’t done yet, but maybe the veteran forward should save his heroics (and smack talk) until the final buzzer next time.
