Jonny Gomes is quite the character. So, too, is legendary broadcaster Vin Scully. Combine the two, and it’s only a matter of time before you get the most amazing story ever.
That’s exactly what happened Monday when the Atlanta Braves visited Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers. As Gomes came to bat for Atlanta in the fourth inning, Scully launched into a tale of truly epic proportions.

We could transcribe Scully’s anecdote — which is pretty incredible — but that wouldn’t do it justice. It’s better to hear Scully spin the tale, all while calling balls and strikes and not missing a beat in the game.
The best part? Gomes hit a single to left field right as Scully finished his story, prompting the Dodgers announcer to dub him the “Wolf Man.”
The Dodgers went on to win 6-3, but it’s pretty clear who the two winners were in this contest.
