Red Sox’s Manuel Margot, Rafael Devers To Play In All-Star Futures Game

The Boston Red Sox are sending two prospects to the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the game Thursday, and Manuel Margot and Rafael Devers, both natives of the Dominican Republic, will represent the Red Sox on the World Team.

Margot, 20, was promoted from High-A Salem to Double-A Portland earlier this week. The outfielder hit .282 with three homers, 17 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and a .321 on-base percentage in 46 games for the Salem Red Sox prior to the promotion.

Margot was ranked MLB’s No. 72 prospect by Baseball America and its No. 99 prospect by MLB.com before this season. SoxProspects.com currently has Margot listed as the Red Sox’s No. 5 prospect.

Devers, 18, will be the second-youngest player in the All-Star contest. The third baseman has been mashing since joining the Red Sox system as an amateur free agent in July 2013. He is hitting .305 with five homers, 32 RBIs and a .784 OPS through 58 games this season with Single-A Greenville.

Devers, who was ranked MLB’s No. 99 prospect by Baseball America and the league’s No. 96 prospect by MLB.com entering this season, currently is Boston’s No. 4 prospect, according to SoxProspects.com.

The All-Star Futures Game is scheduled to take place July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa, Francisco Lindor, Joey Gallo and Noah Syndergaard are among those who played in the game last season before making the jump to the majors in 2015.
